The Body Stealers, Fangs of the Living Dead, Nightmare in Wax. These are just a few of the horror titles released in 1969; the year the Stonewall riots took place in New York City. On June 28, 1969, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people protested in response to a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar located in the Greenwich Village neighbourhood of Lower Manhattan. This started the Gay Rights movement and is the reason we celebrate Pride in June.
In 2020, many Pride celebrations around the world have been cancelled or postponed due to the current pandemic. During these difficult times, it’s been heartening to see LGBTQ horror fans band together as an online community. Besides watching scary movies, there’s been an overall lack of “fun” happening, so we’re taking the opportunity to highlight some of horror’s sweetest eye candy.
Every Monday on @rabbitinredblog, we put a spin on #mcm and feature leading men of horror, and their sometimes unlucky sidekicks, from past and current films. Because who doesn’t need a little motivation to start the week?
