Horror Box Office Champs of 2025

It’s a fade-to-black moment for the 2025 box office, and a hugely profitable one for the horror genre, which took a more-than-one-billion-dollar bite out of the domestic (North American) box office and double that on the worldwide stage when the overseas receipts are added into the equation. Compared to 2024, horror was an insatiable beast at the 2025 box office.

It was a year filled with commercially (if not always critically) successful sequels, and some sensational original films that far exceeded audience expectations. For a genre that thrives on death, horror has never been more vibrant and alive than it was in 2025. I can hardly wait to see what 2026 has in store for fans.
