September may have brought only one wide-release horror film to moviegoers, but when it’s the year-to-date’s highest grossing movie of the genre, knocking US to second place in the process, the lack of competition suddenly makes total sense (and dollars).
Yet despite that kind of no-clowning-around domination, some holdovers from the summer still made a dent at the North American box office (and beyond).
