Rabbit: What’s your favourite scary movie?
Devon: My all-time favorite horror movie is The Gate. It was the first scary movie I can recall from my younger years that introduced me to the horror genre; it scared the absolute hell out of me. Watching The Gate again as an adult is just as horrifying.
Rabbit: Who is your favourite horror movie character?
Devon: Currently, my favorite horror villain is Sam from Trick r’ Treat.
Rabbit: What made you start doing horror art?
Devon: I’ve always created art ever since I could hold a crayon. My mom was really into Halloween. Every year, she would deck the house out with decorations and always made sure we had cool costumes for trick-or-treating. My neighborhood got involved in the holiday and had some amazing spooky yard décor. I believe my love of Halloween and horror has always stayed with me from childhood. Later in life, I studied fine arts in college and became a licensed art teacher. After I graduated college, I got a job as an art director. Part of my job included curating a haunted house. I would develop the concepts, character design, and build/paint props. That’s the first time I started making horror artwork. Horror gradually became my focus and is now my favorite subject to paint. Makeup and bodypainting are other passions of mine. Combining horror art and bodypainting has been a fun endeavor.
Rabbit: What’s your favourite horror piece you’ve done to date?
Devon: The Michael Myers portrait is my favorite painting. The Killer Klowns from Outer Space leg paintings are my favorite from my body painting series.
