Horror Box Office Champs of 2024

It’s a wrap at the movie box office for 2024, and as the final receipts of the year are counted horror has plenty to smile about.

While the genre may have limped into the year in terms of arguably both movies of quality and their subsequent performance at the box office, by the time the final quarter arrived a noticeable shift had taken place, delivering an unexpected modern-day masterpiece (The Substance) as well as some impressive original movies, and solid additions to existing (Alien, A Quiet Place, Smile, Terrifier) franchises.
