With Laugh, Peter Anthony once again proves himself a maestro of psychological horror. This is not a film for the faint of heart; it’s a raw, unapologetic descent into madness that leaves you questioning the very nature of humanity. Gripping, unsettling and utterly unforgettable. Laugh is a cinematic experience that lingers long after the final frame.
A Q&A with Peter Anthony
Hi Peter, it’s great to have you here to discuss your upcoming feature film Laugh! I know this is a dream project of yours. Were you inspired by other psychological horror films or filmmakers specifically when developing this film?
Great question! I would say the recent Joaquin Phoenix incarnation of The Joker. It was not so much the make-up aspect, but more for the great descent into madness journey it took us down. Laugh will be a psychological thriller/horror with some big twists. I love twists and foreshadowing. I am a huge M. Knight Shyamalan fan so he has had a huge influence on my writing
You are wearing many hats in this production, not only writing and directing but also starring in the film. What’s more challenging, working BTS or on screen?
The ego side of me would say acting because it’s easier overall and can seem prestigious. However, the artist in me loves the final product of creating something from scratch. There is nothing more satisfying than watching an audience cheer on your film and cast. It’s a much more challenging job, but the final product makes it all worth it.

You have some horror heavy hitters like Terry Kiser, Jon A. Ravenholt and Sanae Louts involved in Laugh. What was the casting process like and how did these actors win the lead roles?
I’m lucky that’s how! To be able to cast such a talent as Terry Kiser is a blessing. Over the past few years, we have become good friends. I learn from him every day. This will be my third time working with Sanae Loutsis. With her starring role in Laugh and now Snow White she is one of the best upcoming young actors. Jon is a hidden gem that I am proud to showcase. It has been amazing to watch him get into his character Calypso.
The makeup and special effects in the teaser trailer look pretty wild. Tell us about the team working on these important aspects of the film.
Oh, man. I’m so glad you asked. If I may be cliche “you ain’t seen nothing yet”. I am so lucky to have collaborated with Jason Brooks at Real Fiction Studios, who is once again breaking down barriers with practical FX. Throw in Tom Smith’s burn work from Sick N Twisted and I feel we have an incredible team.
What are your goals for the Indiegogo prelaunch campaign and what perks are included for horror fans who support the film?
It’s currently listed at $25,000 but the real goal we need is more like $50/75,000. We have some amazing stretch goals about to be announced with horror legends. This is the last Indiegogo campaign I will be doing, so I hope it all turns out well. We have the best fans in the world so I’m confident we can achieve it. Can I interest you in a Blu-Ray Red Rabbit?
