2022 was an incredibly strong year for horror movies, and a feeding frenzy for audiences looking for something beyond sequels; a far cry from the cinematic landscape that was 2021, when 8 of the 10 top horror films at the North American box office belonged to franchises. And while 2022 did include the return of some familiar faces (Michael Myers, Ghostface, Esther, Art the Clown), fans of the genre were equally if not more excited by the arrival of original stories and introductions to some new final girls (and guys).
Scroll down for my year end reveal of the Top 10 horror champions at the 2022 box office, as determined by North American, Overseas and Worldwide audiences. How many of these movies have you seen?
