While 2019, or as fans of horror refer to it, “the year between Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills”, may not have included a return to the big screen by Michael Myers, it did provide moviegoers with some other familiar, frightful faces hell-bent on scaring audiences. And although there were considerably fewer horror/thriller films that grossed $1 million (U.S.) or more at the box office in 2019 (33 titles vs. 49 in 2018), the genre held strong like the final girl it is.
Having freshly arrived not only into a new year of horror but also a new decade (!!!), here’s a reveal of the Top 10 horror/thriller champions at the 2019 box office, as determined by North American, Overseas and Worldwide audiences. How many have you seen? And which is your favorite? Happy New Year!
